Leading from the Sharbot Lake Beach north to the public dock is Thomson's Cut, a passage cut through the hill when the K&P Railway was built. Look for drill holes on the rock face, where gunpowder was placed to blast away the rock. Thomson's lumber mill was located on the lakeshore at the north end of the cut.
